Rules for Submitting Communications and Workshops

Both researchers and geographic information professionals are invited to present tools, technical solutions, work methodologies, data management and publication in an interoperable manner, metadata, data analysis, etc. through two modalities:

  • Communications: 15-minute presentation, plus a 5-minute turn for questions.
  • Workshops: Technical demonstration between 45 minutes and 1 hour maximum.

Classified according to theobjective or purpose of those to be displayed:

  1. Spatial data structure, metadata, vocabularies, semantics and high-value datasets.
  2. Management, processing, publication of spatial data, analysis or added value of spatial data (transport networks, environment, urban planning, imagery, elevation, etc.).
  3. Spatial data software: Development of tools, portals, web applications, and technical solutions.
  4. Artificial intelligence, Large Language Model, Deep Learning, etc.
  5. Cooperation between different agents, data integration, working methodology..

Any communication or workshop can have a place in more than one theme, so the classification must respond to the content to be highlighted, depending on the objective.

 

How to participate?

Instructions for Submitting Communications

Papers may be submitted in the form of an abstract or article for subsequent submission for publication in Mapping magazine.

If submitted as a summary:

  • Maximum length of 800 words.
  • Since the event has an international scope, summaries will be accepted in Portuguese, Spanish, or English.
  • Select the topic number of the conference (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).
  • The presentation proposal must follow this template: Summary_FirstnameLastname_TopicNumber_en.docx.

If submitted as an article:

  • If desired, the work can also be presented in an article for publication in the Mapping magazine, which will be published after the conference.
  • Select the topic number of the conference (1, 2, 3, 4, and 5).
  • The presentation proposal must follow this template: http://revistamapping.com/normas/.

Both the abstract and the article must be submitted by June 1 in Word or ODT format via email to jiide@cnig.es, with the email subject: [JIIDE 2025]:[JIIDE 2025]: Name and surname of 1st author_Title of abstract/article_Subject number.

The communication may be submitted initially as an abstract and subsequently as an article; in this case, the deadline for submission is November 30.

Instructions for Submitting Workshops

In the case of participating by presenting a workshop, it is necessary to send a proposal including the abstract, its purpose and objectives, target audience and authors.

  • The workshop proposal must follow this template: Workshop_FirstnameLastname_en.docx
  • Proposals should be sent before June 1 in Word or ODT format throught the email jiide@cnig.es, indicating in the subject of the mail: [JIIDE 2025]: Name and surname of the 1st author_Title of the workshop.

At least one of the persons appearing as the author of the paper or workshop must be registered in the Conference; otherwise, the paper will not be accepted and will not be exhibited. Certificates will be issued only in the name of the registered persons who participate and present their paper or workshop.

Substantial modifications to the work once received will not be admitted.
